Emissary Overdrive
Based on a certain classic green pedal with a rather conspicuous mid hump.
The Emissary is modernised, perfected, tailored, and massaged into a beautifully versatile, streamlined, rugged, and unique package. This is one of my favourite circuit designs and the pedal which I think represents where Monarch Pedals is at these days, hence the Emissary name.
Controls:
DRIVE - Controls the amount of gain is present, from a clean boost to a medium distortion.
VOLUME - controls the overall output volume. Unity is around halfway.
TONE - Clockwise adds sparkle and mids and cuts off some low end rumble, counterclockwise does the opposite, adding bass and body while still retaining clarity and sparkle.
COMP - Select between modern symmetrical or vintage asymmetrical clipping, or no clipping at all for a raw unbridled tone.
SIZE - This adds more low end toi the boosted signal. You know when you boost a driven amp it makes the amp tighter and growlier? Sometimes I wish it was less tight, sometimes I wish it was tighter still and removed some more low end for a more cutting tone. Hence the introduction of the SIZE switch. Now you can choose between a huge fat doomy tone if set to L, or a razor sharp attack when set to S. Setting the size to M is just like our beloved TS/SD1 style pedals.
TRUE FACTS:
Handmade in NZ.
True Bypass.
Rugged enclosure.
Top mounted jacks.
Lifetime RTB warranty.
DC power supply only (9-18v).
FAVE SETTINGS:
I like the volume about 70%, gain about 30%, tone just past halfway, COMP switch UP, SIZE switch DOWN.
